1. Graduation Requirements
In order to be conferred by the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation of HGU, students must fulfill the following requirements :
A. Their GPA (grade point average) must be higher than B (or 3.0).
B. 55 credits of four semesters must be completed.
C. They must pass a comprehensive examination (see below). |
2. Comprehensive Examination
Date : Mid-December each year
The examination is broken down into four areas:
1) Linguistics - Phonology, Grammar, Discourse Analysis
2) Translation - Translation 1, Translation 2
3) New Testament related courses -
NT Exegesis, Koine Greek Discourse Analysis
4) Old Testament related courses -
OT Exegesis, Biblical Hebrew Discourse Analysis
1. Students must be tested on a total of 9 subjects.
* All the nine subjects are compulsory.
2. The open book Comprehensive Examination occurs over four days. On the first day the 3 subjects of the 'Linguistics' area are tested. On the second day the 2 courses of 'Translation' are tested. On the third day the 2 courses of 'New Testament related courses' are tested. On the fourth day the 2 courses of 'Old Testament related courses' are tested. Students must score above 80% for all courses examination to pass the comprehensive exam.
In the event that a student fails a subject, that student is to retake the exam the following year in June or the annual Comprehensive Examination in December.

3. Criteria for Grade Evaluation
Each course is graded under the following criteria in regards to the relative assignments, readings, written examinations, etc. |
